Firepolished
Glass fusing is a beautiful
picture of the refining process we must go through in Christ. To achieve
a desired design, the glass must be shaped by scoring, cutting, and grinding,
leaving the surface scratched and cloudy. Each piece must then be thoroughly
cleansed with harsh chemicals to remove all impurities which would tarnish
the surface in the fire. The piece must then be fired to almost 1500 degrees
and cooled slowly over 12 hours or the glass will develop stress fractures
and break. When the glass comes out of this firing, it has become “Firepolished,”
meaning all remaining impurities have burnt off, all rough edges have
rounded, and the glass has regained its luster. Yet, most pieces must
be reworked several times until they are usable.
Just as the glass is refined, we must go through elaborate preparations
before God can truly release us in our destinies. Each trial shapes us
for the Master’s divine design. I hope that you will view my work
as a symbol of encouragement. No matter how hot the fires become, if you
humble yourself, and yield, you will come out Firepolished, refined for
your destiny.
Esther 4:14 “For you were born for such a time as this.”
